One of the things I love about road-tripping in Switzerland is how many fun places there are to stop along the way.
There were suspension bridges around every corner, we drove by farms advertising local cheeses, rest areas with playgrounds, and summits with incredible views. Switzerland is straight out of my dreams.
Our Swiss friends recommended family-friendly activities in Switzerland, so using their suggestions as our guide, we knew we would hit the family-friendly Switzerland jackpot.
Ticino
Cliff Jumping- Ticino
Our friend owns an adventure tour company in Ticino, and he recommended this fantastic swimming/cliff-jumping spot. It took us a while to find the path to the pools, but once we made it down the hill, there were ledges of varying heights to climb and jump. From 3 feet to 70 feet, there was something for everyone.

Canyoneering
Our friend took us out for an incredible afternoon exploring the Canyon Boggera, where we jumped off more ledges and zoomed down natural rock waterslides. This was the perfect thing to do on a hot day and might be the most fun I have ever had as a family. To see the details of our cliff jumping and canyonnering adventure check out our YouTube video.

Ticino is fantastic and family-friendly. If you are in the area and need a great take-a-way pizza recommendation, check out Pizzeria Pizzamania. We took ours to the river and had a picnic.

Hiking
We love to hike, and Switzerland is the place to do it. In all the places we visited we found perfect family-friendly hikes. Here are the hikes we loved.

Feisch
We took the gondola to the Aletsch glacier. We hiked to the top of Eggishorn Peak, walked down to Lake Stausee, and then to Platta Glacier viewpoint, finally returning through the tunnel and back to our hotel. Appartmenthaus Bergfreund (Fiescheralp 61 3984 Fiesch)

Salvan
We took a bus up to a campground to check out a climbing spot. The hike was absolutely gorgeous we only did first 2 miles because we stopped to climb. but I wish we had done the entire thing. Here is the link

We also hiked from this same campground back to Salvan. Click here.

We found a very Cool Canyon hike starting from Tretein.

We ate at a delicious Swiss Restaurant called Auberge du Vallon de Van. If you are in the area it’s worth a visit!

One last thing we did before we drove to the airport, was stop at Gruyères. Gruyères is a medieval town in Fribourg. It’s famous for production of Gruyère cheese! There was a lovely castle and the hilltop community has very few cars so it’s a wonderful place to wander. Cailler chocolate has it’s headquarters here as well. You can do a tour and learn how chocolate is made!
