San Bernardino Mountains with a 13 month old

This weekend, we took Sage on her first overnight backpacking trip in the San Bernardino Mountains. Our hike in started on Saturday late afternoon. We climbed 6.5 miles, 2,700 feet, and arrived at our campsite just before sunset.

After running a half marathon that morning, Peter carried 50lbs (Sage included) up the mountain without uttering one complaint. I had 27lbs, didn’t run a half marathon, and felt like I was going to die. I need to get in better shape. Sage did great. She was happy getting dirty, playing in the tent, and taking a nude swim in ice cold water! Clearly she has her Dad’s tough genes.

Sage slept almost the entire way down the mountain
Before her dip in the ice cold pond!

This girl doesn't mind cold water. She went right in!
This girl doesn’t mind cold water. She went right in! (Yes, we know she has a big head and this angle certainly doesn’t help!)

As usual, your photos are wonderful – the place looks gorgeous! What a terrific way to share your trip with us, thank you!! That last picture of Sage is pretty funny but not as funny as your comment… Would’ve loved to have been able to come with you… let us know how sore you feel tomorrow 😉 ha ha
